For a Jewish family, a monument is much more than a marker—it is part of how a name is carried forward.

Our upright single memorials feature traditional Hebrew lettering alongside English, and the Hebrew is cut entirely by hand. Hebrew lettering must be spaced and weighted carefully to sit properly as part of the design rather than as an afterthought next to the English name. The stone typically carries the Hebrew name in the traditional form (the person's name followed by the parent's), the civil dates, and often the Hebrew date, complete with the traditional five-letter abbreviation for "may their soul be bound up in the bond of eternal life" at the bottom.

Symbols reflect life and lineage: a Star of David, a menorah, a Torah scroll, kohen blessing hands, or a levite pitcher. Many New Jersey Jewish cemeteries maintain specific rules for size, footstones, and materials, which we confirm beforehand.

One thing worth planning for early: the monument must be finished and set before the unveiling, which families usually hold near the first yahrzeit. Tell us that date and we'll work backward from it.
